Summoned || Spencer and Lottie

Figuring that the girl had probably been through enough, Spencer nodded with a sigh. “Yes, go. I hope the next time I see you is under better circumstances,” he said. She was bright and had unlimited potential. He hated seeing her get sucked into the seedier side of the family.

“Of course,” Lottie grinned as she stood up.  “I’ll be a good girl until next time.”  He knew her well but with threats hanging over her head there was a limit to who she could annoy anyway, the last thing she wanted was to actually end up in trouble.  Good as Spencer was Lottie knew she was a small fish among the Montague pond.

That reaction was concerning. Lottie looked a bit like a deer caught in the headlights. But maybe she was just a ball of nerves from the whole encounter. “You really do need to stay far away, Lottie, understood? Do nothing that will draw the Commander’s attention.” Spencer looked at her pointedly. “If he continues to harass you I will insist on speaking with him. Just be happy I have no intention of telling Lord Oz.”

“Understood Sir,” she agreed in a whisper.  Of course she had no intention of telling Spencer anything further but she understood what it was he wanted.  She let out a long breath as he mentioned not letting Oz know about it. “Thank you,” she replied, relieved that there was no reason yet for her not to get back her property from Oz, after all money was getting tighter and she was going to need some income soon.  “Can I go now?” she asked, her eyes wide and innocent as she knew he couldn’t resist.

“No. He doesn’t have the power to have you thrown from the University and even if he did, it wouldn’t stick. I would fight it.” Spencer said with a sigh. “I know you didn’t do it on purpose Lottie but you have to use your head. You are smart. Stay away from anywhere the commander might be especially crime scenes, got it?” Spencer stood and moved around his desk to lean on it. “Lottie, I am upset because I care. You know I am not a fan of most of what the family does. I don’t want to see you end up in a position where I can’t get you out of it. Do I need to speak to the commander?”

Lottie felt immense relief at the notion the commander couldn’t get her throw off her course.  She had worked too long and hard to get to this point for him to do that, especially when she actually hadn’t done anything to deserve it that time.  Her head rose to look at Spencer as he moved position, her eyes widening as he asked about speaking to the commander, “Oh no, no, no it’s fine.  There is no need for you to do that.  I will stay far away and it will all go away.  He’ll get bored of me soon enough.”

“Fucking hell,” Spencer muttered, glaring at the young submissive sitting across from him. “What in God’s name would make you go skulk outside the one place you knew would be crawling with Watchmen? Seriously, Lottie…” he trailed off, running a hand over his face. “You were already on his radar.” He sighed. “So he kept you to be vindictive. Did he seem like he was going to come after you again?”

“I didn’t exactly plan it,” she cried out.  “I couldn’t sleep and just wanted to get some air….and just kind of ended up there.”  She knew that would be his reaction and would no doubt be Oz’s too when he found out but for now the feeling of disapproval from Spencer was bad enough.  She nodded at his reasoning about the commander though his next question made her pause for a moment.  “He ….he asked about my parents and said he would only have to turn up at the university, not even say anything beyond my name and he could get me kicked off my course.”  Lottie glanced over, “He couldn’t could he?  I’ve never been charged with anything.  He doesn’t have the power to get me thrown off just for the hell of it?”  That single thought was the only thing that kept playing round her head, making her think she had no option but to go through with the deal.  When she didn’t consider that point she was fine.

Spence really wanted to believe the young submissive but it also wouldn’t surprise him if the Commander did hold a grudge. It had been easy to keep Lottie out of trouble the first time. They really didn’t have any hard evidence on the girl. And he knew for sure she’d been laying low since she got back. “What kind of story did he come up with to hold you overnight then? Did he charge you with anything?”

She knew he was going to be annoyed when he heard where she had been but it was going to come up at some point.  Biting her lip she looked down at the floor as she tried to work out how to word it.  “He didn’t charge me…..but he said he had seen me exchanging money with someone.”  She lifted her head with a sigh before quickly dropping her gaze again, “It was outside The Apothecary after the fire.”

Hearing that Lottie had to spend a night in jail the night of the fire had come as a surprise. She’d only recently returned to Verona. What the hell could she have done to get her ass thrown in jail. When he went back to work after taking a day off to recover, he shot off a text telling her to come to his office. As the day passed and she failed to turn up, he only got more irritated. When she finally showed, he was more than a little annoyed.

“I’m doing fine. Was just a bit sore yesterday and needed to spend some time with Sam. Thank you for asking. Now, can you explain to me how in God’s name you landed your butt in jail?”

His initial reply was fairly calm and so she began to think maybe he wasn’t annoyed with her but then his tone changed and she knew he had indeed heard everything.  “I didn’t do anything,” she exclaimed quickly, her eyes wide and innocent as she was actually telling the truth this time.  “The Commander is an ass and still pissed that you got me off his dumb charges before the summer.  I just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time on Thursday morning.”

She knew it was coming, there was no way he wasn’t going to want to talk to her but it didn’t mean she had to dash over to Spencer’s office the second she got the message.  Or that was what she told herself as she arrived just after 3pm.  The text had arrived at 10am and Lottie had spent the hours in between working out what she could say and trying to predict how much he might know.  Once his assistant showed her into his office she sat right down and smiled over, “Are you feeling better?  I hear you were off yesterday.”

Spencer sat and nursed his drink as he waited for the submissive. He wasn’t terribly annoyed. Having a break with his thoughts was a good change of pace. “Hello to you too, Lottie.” Spencer chuckled as the young submissive launched directly into her order. Many things had changed since he’d last seen her but he still carried a fondness for the young woman.

“Yeh, yeh,” she laughed.  “Hello and all that jazz.  I’ll be far more civil with a vodka and coke in my hand!”  Still chuckling to herself she looked pointedly at him until he went to the bar.   Once he was back she took the drink with a thanks and took a sip before grinning at him, “So how is claimed life?  Is it everything you ever dreamt of?”

Your round || Spencer and Lottie

There were few people that Lottie had missed while she had been away but Spencer was one of them.  Things were different now he was in a claim so no longer kept a change of clothes at her house, but he had stepped up and kept her safe when she needed him most and she wouldn’t easily forget that.   She arrived at the bar and looked around, sighing softly as she realised he was already there and she was late – a fact that she was sure he would happily point out.  Still she made her way over with a smile and sat down opposite him, “A vodka and coke thanks.”
