game night [V + L]

Valentine’s brows pulled together watching Charlotte’s hand drift over her companion’s back, he shook his head, smiling. Whatever was said at the end sent the boy scurrying again and at this point, Valentine had to ease back on his chair, eyes closed with a bitten back laugh.

[sms 22:56] Bullshit.

He typed. Looked at the bar, then back at the submissive girl, who only now looked like she was having some semblance of the said fun. As the Commander’s eyes studied Charlotte’s profile, the people she was with, he wondered what would’ve happened if they met in a different time.

[sms 22:57] You know he won’t be much fun.

Her phone quickly showed her the first text from the Commander and she closed her eyes briefly, well aware he was right.  She wanted a fun night but she had little doubt that Lucas would not be the one to deliver.

Her eyes drifted back to the bar and the boy whose only job was to bring her back a straw and that seemed to be a massive trial in itself.  She scoffed as the next text came in and she nodded at her phone.

[sms: 22:58] Maybe not….but he’s not the only option here.

[sms: 22:58] There’s a whole group of possibilities just walked in!

Lottie’s gaze settled on the group of 5 men who had just walked in and as one of them made eye contact with her she found herself smiling at him, leaning forward so she could place her elbows on the raised table she was standing at, her chest automatically more on display.  She glanced over again and saw she was still being watched so she picked up her drink and took a sip, licking her lips slowly as she put the glass back down.  The thought that the Commander was somewhere in the bar and watching her flirt added greatly to her excitement.

Valentine watched with a small smile he tried and failed to cover as Lottie’s attention went back to the phone the second his message arrived. Much to the boy’s distaste. He failed again to bite back a chuckle, shaking his head.

Whatever the submissive said to the stranger by her side it seemed to have the boy out and off to the bar. A drink, the Commander guessed something on his tab surely. He lowered his gaze towards the table when Charlotte looked around, figuring the cap and his table would keep him mostly out of the spotlight.

His phone buzzed. And it was his turn to smile reading her message.

[sms 22: 46] Just making sure you’re on your best behavior.

He typed, then deleted.

[sms 22: 47] Coincidence.

[sms 22:47] And what is that exactly?

Hitting send Valentine eased back in his chair, curious to see her reaction.

Her phone was still in her hand when the first text came through and she gave a small laugh and shook her head.  Lucas arrived back just as the next text came in but she had long enough to read it before her drink was put down.  By this stage she had no doubt the Commander was in the bar, he knew too much, and Lottie decided to make him wait, playing a little.

She took a drink and leaned over to speak in Lucas’s ear.  Her hand brushed over his back as she spoke about her drink telling him how perfect it was and how kind he had been to bring it.  When he turned and smiled at her she showed him her sweetest smile and asked if he would mind getting her a straw.  Only when he left did she type a quick message.

[sms 22:55] A fun time.

Valentine tugged the cap he wore a little lower, fingers going back to the neck of his beer as he watched Charlotte pull out her phone. The girl’s face illuminated by the screen, he could make out the faintest expression on her face as she read through the short message. He’d half expected a scowl, a bratty roll of her eyes promptly followed by her shoving the phone away, so when Charlotte’s fingers danced over the screen he chuckled to himself.

Her companion, however, didn’t seem all too pleased at the loss of her attention. On his table, Val’s phone buzzed and he didn’t rush to text back, eyes darting back to check if Damian was still at the bar. The last thing he needed was to have his friend questioning his constant attention to his phone. Last thing he really needed was to actually reply to the girl’s text. The few beers he’d had didn’t help much.

[sms 22:40] I think what I know proves the opposite actually. You could be. Or you could be in a bar somewhere being far from a little good girl.

[sms 22:41] I’m thinking a sports bar. Ignoring some adolescent looking boy to check your phone.

Shaking his head Valentine tucked his phone away again, finishing the last of his beer.

Her phone went silent and while it seemed a rather random message she assumed that was it and picked up her drink again.  After a few minutes Lucas sidled over to her again and began to talk.  With a fixed smile she nodded a few times and was beginning to wonder whether he was worth putting much effort into.

Her phone vibrated and she pulled it out to look.  Pursing her lips as she saw who it was again she threw a sweet smile to Lucas and held her glass up.  She opened the message, shaking her head at the first one but the second made her mouth drop and she immediately looked around. Lucas was still standing there and Lottie leaned over to whisper loudly in his ear and send him scuttling off to the bar. Once he had gone Lottie began to text.

[sms 22:46] Are you following me?

[sms 22.47] And said boy is a sweetheart who will give me whatever I want.

Biting her lip as she finished pressing send she looked around again though in a fairly busy and dark bar it was hard to spot anyone.

This was nice, Valentine mused, nursing his beer as his eyes drifted over the crowd of people. With Damien gone to get them another round, and the TV switched to another channel while the commercials aired in the halftime of the game, there wasn’t much to do but people watch.

His thoughts miles away when something pulled his attention back to the present. A familiar laugh ringing somewhere at his right, Valentine’s eyes landed on Lottie’s back as the girl spoke with someone on her table.

Valentine smiled, brows high, shaking his head he forced his gaze away – back on the TV, on the blonde at the bar, at Damian who’d struck a conversation with the bartender, though somehow, his attention inevitably drifted back to Lottie.

Lottie who was talking with a man, rather – boy, who had rips on the knees of his jeans that Valentine found to be ridiculous. He tugged his phone, taping away before he thought better of it.

[sms 22:31] Out before Monday? Not very responsible.

@lottieberdini

Lottie was trying to convince herself that she was having a good time but it was proving hard.  The two friends she thought would be out had yet to arrive and while the company was alright it wasn’t what she had expected.  One of the guys kept talking to her and he was sweet but way too young for what she enjoyed.  He had marked himself as a Dominant but she had yet to see any sign of any control from him and while he was clearly looking to see where the night might go she knew she would be way too much for him to handle.  Still he was quite funny and she enjoyed that and it was as he was telling her a very amusing story about a class the previous week that she felt her phone vibrate in her bag.

Giving an apologetic smile she reached in and called up the message.  Her face lit up in a grin as she saw the name ‘Major’ on the screen and as she read the text she gave a laugh of surprise at the unexpected message.

[sms 22.33] I’m very responsible as you well know.  I could be at home studying right now or even about to go to bed like a good little girl!

With a smirk to herself she put her phone back in her purse and took a long drink, a warm glow inside her that made her miss the fact the boy had taken a step away.
