“Oh goodness, math!  Calculus, geometry, trigonometry, all those things make my head spin!” Daisy giggled.  “Science is such hard work, and it requires such a different way of thinking.  I really couldn’t do it, even if I did have the time for it.”

“It is hard work but it is a bit more clear cut than something like literature or art where things are very much depending on you creativity and everyone having the same perspective.  It can be quite enjoyable once you crack the equation and get the chemical reaction to work properly.”

“Chemistry!  How exciting!  I learned a little in college but very introductory levels,” she giggled.  “But I never really understand how to calculate all the little things.  Significant numbers still confuse me to this day!  I can’t imagine ever learning specific areas of chemistry, so I really commend you for your studies.”

Lottie let out a loud laugh, “Yeh, if I had thought about how much maths is involved I might have opted for something else but I don’t mind it too much.  It’s all the time in lab work that’s the killer but baring sudden absences, it all gets done.”

“Yea, I think that’s what my parents were hoping for.  Worse comes to worse, I have a fancy piece of paper that showed I paid a lot for school,” she giggled, failing to put on her own proper adult face.  “Really?  I’m sure you’re very good at whatever you decided to study, or at least you’re very passionate about it.  What is it that you study?”

“I’m studying chemistry and yes I think probably more passionate than super good at it.  I can certainly do enough to get through although they make us start to specialise this year so that’s another round of headaches.  Why I can’t just keep with the nice broad subject I’ll never know.”

“I am a florist!” Daisy beamed excitedly, giggling a little.  “My parents wanted me to get a college education first before jumping into a career, so that’s what I did!  I mean, not like the degree really helped too much, but I also took a couple of intro business classes to help with learning how to manage a shop.”

Lottie nodded in understanding. “Makes sense.  You’ll always have that degree to fall back on,” she added in a proper grown up, serious voice.  “My parents were very insistent I go to college too although my mother wasn’t so sure about my choice of course.”  Lottie’s parents had quickly worked out why she wanted to do chemistry and while her dad fully supported it her mother had been against it initially.

“Well, good luck,” Daisy said sympathetically with a sigh.  “I studied environmental science!  It was the closest thing there was to learning about plants and flowers honestly.”

“If you wanted to learn about plants and flowers why did you bother with a degree?  Why not just go and train as a florist or gardener?” Lottie asked with genuine interest.

“That sounds really rough and unfair.  Maybe you could email him, ask him what the assignment is supposed to be about?”  Daisy sighed, not really sure how to help despite the strong desire to do so.  “It’s been a while since I’ve been in school so I don’t really know what protocols are supposed to be in place.”

Lottie shrugged, “I’ll need to contact him, that’s for sure.  It’s just a case of hoping that he’s in a good mood when I do and maybe he’ll decide I don’t have to do it or it will be something really short.”  She took a drink of her coffee before asking, “What did you study?”

Daisy pursed her lips in thought for a moment before she sipped her drink.  “Well, what are you going to do about it?  Or just not do the assignment?” she asked, a small furrow forming on her brow.  It didn’t seem like a rather good solution in Daisy’s opinion.

Lottie huffed slightly before she replied.  “I don’t have an option, I have to do the assignment and he knows it.  It sucks though because he hasn’t told me in this letter what the assignment is so I could be walking into anything.  I don’t have a choice though.”

“Mmm… darn,” Daisy sighed, pouting a little on behalf on the other submissive.  “Maybe he thought the assignment would be helpful?  I really don’t know… it does sound rough, so I am super sorry about that.”  The barista called out their drinks and Daisy went to pick them up, handing the drink to the girl.  “Is there, maybe, extra tutoring you could get, then?  Something to make the assignment easier?”

Lottie took her drink gratefully but as the other girl kept talking she was getting annoyed.  “I don’t need extra tuition.  I know the stuff.  I missed three days.  He’s just being throwing a tantrum and making me do this extra work for nothing.”

Daisy waited while the other submissive ordered, and when it was her turn, she quickly did the same.  Standing to the side, she listened as the conversation continued.  “Oh, that seems a little harsh.  I think.  I never really did lab work when I was in school, so I don’t really know the standard… Is there someone you could talk to about that?  A professor or something?”

“Thank you,” Lottie exclaimed.  “I’m glad it’s not just me who thinks it’s ridiculous.”  She thought for a moment before shaking her head, “I doubt it.  It’s down to the individual professors to submit the marks for each student so if decides to be an ass about it I don’t think there’s anything I can do.  I wouldn’t mind but he was one of my favorites before this arrived.”

“What’s only a few days?” Daisy asked.  She couldn’t help but overhear and she definitely couldn’t help but instinctively responding.  But the Capulet had at least some decency and didn’t try to peek a look at whatever the other girl was reading.  “Also I think you’re up next to order,” she giggled.

“What?” Lottie mumbled, looking round for a moment before noticing that indeed it is her turn to order.  Doing so she steps to the side to wait on her coffee and soon the other woman is beside her again.  “The stupid university are saying because I missed a few days of lab work at the end of last semester I have to submit an extra assignment or resit the year!  It was literally like three days and it couldn’t be helped.  It’s so dumb.”
