“Fifth, I just completed my bachelors degree and decided to do my Masters. I’m hoping to have it done within a year, but I figured if it takes two then I’ve got time. What about you?”
“Starting a masters, you must be keen. I’m just going into my third year so a little bit to go yet. Are you working along with your masters or a full time student?”
“…It’s different.” Celia answers; honestly not all that taken with the city. “My dog is much more taken with the city than I am, but I suppose there are worst places that we could live” Her phone chimes, and she taps at the message before settling it back into her pocket and extending her hand. “And I’m sorry for my appalling manners and not introducing myself sooner. Celia Romano; it’s nice to meet you”
Lottie laughs softly at the honest response. “There are definitely worst places,” she confirms before the other submissive is distracted by her phone for a moment. Reaching out a hand towards the others she nods, “Nice to meet you, I’m Charlotte Berdini, Lottie usually. Which year will you be going into at the university?”
“Did you also attend Summer classes?” Her tone is curious, as opposed to prying, gauging the level of her fellow students before giving a small motion with her hands. “….About a 14 hour drive, it’s in the same vicinity as Sicily. People tend to know that better than Ragusa”
Lottie gives the girl a curious look at the question before she shakes her head, “No summer classes, I was doing some travelling.” She almost says visiting relatives but now she is back in Verona she is very conscious that she had to be very careful about mentioning her parents. “How are you finding Verona then?” she asks at the response.
“My Zia is my Aunt. She’s wonderful.. People seem to find her intimidating but she’s always been like a Mother to me” Celia glows while talking about her family, before adding. “…I don’t know if you would have met her, we’re still yet to have our official welcoming party but she’s Lady Celeste Romano. She and my father are heads of our family. We just moved here over the Summer”
It was obvious that the girl in front of her absolutely adored the woman she was talking about but Lottie couldn’t place her at all. “I don’t believe I have met her. I’ve been away for a few months, well over the summer, so I have clearly missed your arrival. Have you moved from far?”
“Accounting. I like numbers. They make more sense than people do, even if people do try to trick them. The numbers don’t lie and can’t be deceived. Not forever” Celia’s answer is probably a little too heavy for the light conversation, but she doesn’t mind before nodding and placing her order for a large cup of green tea with honey and two slices of lemon. “..You’d like my Zia, she’s an agricultural chemist”
Lottie nodded, her eyes wide and not quite sure what the correct response to the interesting explanation really was. “Your Zia?” she asks, looking for further clarification on who they are talking about.
In response to the ‘fabulous as always’ Celia simply blinks, determining if the response is sarcasm or not, deciding it is? She keeps her mouth shut, before seeing the peek of the letterhead of the crumpled paper in the girls hand. “It’s okay. I don’t have other places to be. My shopping took 45 minutes less than I planned, and I can’t pick my dog up from the groomers until 4″, her eyes flick over the menu, deciding what she wants before gesturing to the peek of paper. “We attend the same University, what are you studying?”
The other girl’s response is far more measured than Lottie would have expected but the calm reply is strangely comforting. Finally stepping forward to place her order Lottie turns back with wide eyes hearing they were both at the university though it shouldn’t really be that much of a surprise. “I’m a chemistry major, what about you?”
The girl in line in front of her is discontented, and clearly focused on a piece of crumpled paper, though Celia waits patiently despite the line trickling down, and someone cutting in front of them both, but when it looks like the same thing is about to happen. She bites her tongue before clearing her throat quietly, and asking politely; her tone naturally frosty. “…Excuse me? You’ve been letting people in front of you for the better part of 2 minutes.. Are you okay?”
Lottie looks up in surprise at being addressed and turns her head to notice that indeed the queue has been moving and she is still in the same spot. “I’m fabulous as always,” she smirks though her lips don’t stretch as much as they usually would and she shuffles forward. Placing her order she carefully smooths out the paper and folds it to place it in her purse before turning with a slight sigh to the girl behind who actually had drawn her from her daze. “I’m sorry if I held you up,” she says with almost a genuine warmth.
