Edmund turned to face the young woman again, giving her an unamused look. “I can get my own drinks, thanks. What? Do you need to wave the bartender down for you again, or something?”

Lottie’s expression immediately soured, her offer thrown back in a very ungracious manner.  “Are you expecting a gold star or something?  And no, I am more than capable of attracting the bartender’s attention myself, I just think I’ll do it somewhere more hospitable.”  With that she slid off the stool and grabbed her purse, heading for the exit and now in a foul mood.

Edmund rolled his eyes and tuned his attention back to his own drink, ignoring the young woman to his side. He had little patience for bratty submissives in his limited free time– especially when he’d only been polite.

Lottie took her drink and began to sip, enjoying the taste and glancing around.  She kept catching glimpses of the man beside her as she turned her head and she could appreciate his chiselled features.  As she finished off that drink she decided she might as well be nice, especially since there wasn’t anyone she knew in the bar that evening.  “Do you want another drink?” she asked suddenly.

“You might want to watch that tone with strangers,” he cautioned, frowning at the attitude. She obviously was just a child and seemed to have little idea or care for who he was, let alone his designation. “Your lack of manners isn’t attractive, and not everyone will be so friendly with someone they don’t know.” He smirked, seeing her struggle with the bartender, flagging him down himself for her before turning back to his own drink.

She opened her mouth to respond but then he attracted the bartender over and she turned her attention towards them.  Ordering a vodka and coke she turned back to the man with a sickly, sweet smile, “Thank you so much for stepping in Sir.  I will indeed work on my tone and manners.”   Her drink appeared in front of her and she thanked the bartender, turning back with a smirk of acknowledgement as if to emphasis her manners.

Edmund chuckled at the attitude, one arm coming up to his chest defensively, palms flat and facing the other. “Relax. Easy– I was just trying to be friendly, one bar patron to another, sweetheart. No ill will intended.”

Lottie pursed her lips and rolled her eyes at the ‘sweetheart’ title.  “Do you like being friendly?  You might want to come up with more original questions then.”  With a wave she tried to attract the bar tender’s attention, dropping her hand as she is not quick enough.
