Escaping the Fire

As soon as Jim made sure Alex was outside, he turned back around and dove back into the burning building. It didn’t matter that he could hear the sirens, he knew how crucial every second could be when it came to a fire. Lottie was on the edge dance floor when the alarm had sounded but in her immediate panic she had moved closer to the bar and somehow moved back to get herself pushed right up against the wall.  Now she was rigid, frozen to the spot while her head was screaming to get out.  It wasn’t until she heard Jim that she was finally able to coordinate mind and body to call out, “Over here.”
